The Indian Intercourse Act of 1790 is just as sexy as it sounds.
I beg to differ, OP, unless you find rape sexy.

So a while ago I saw this awesome drawing on Tumblr and through it found Multiculturalism for Steampunk’s weekly art challenge! And that got me thinking about what Korean “steampunk” would be like. There hasn’t been a Korea-themed week yet, and I’m not sure if there will be since Korea tends to get overlooked in favor of China and Japan, but I drew up a few ideas anyways.
The only problem is that although I think I have a decent grasp on Korean culture (via heritage, saeguks and and research), I don’t think I really understand what steampunk is, exactly. There seem to be a lot of differing definitions out there, and a lot of my ideas are probably more in the realm of fantasy than steampunk. But the idea of mixing Victorian with everything seems limited (and in certain cases, possibly offensive), so I leaned toward the alternate history/anachronistic technology definition.
Anyways, this sketch is probably the steampunk-iest one — it’s basically a motorized version of a palanquin!
These are fantastic! And give it some time m’dear- we’ll have Korea eventually. (I’m starting with the bigger, ‘sexier’ countries to get people interested and used to the challenges before we get into lesser known cultures and civilizations. Believe me, I’m excited to do Mongolia, Kenya, and Mexico.)
